Interested in ordering buckets of local blooms and buds for your celebration?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding or event!

DIY Buckets may be the perfect solution for the creative or budget conscious event planner! If you are interested in arranging flowers for your own wedding or just want to have a fun date night arranging flowers with your friends, a bucket order might be perfect option for you! Each bucket contains focal blooms, filler flowers, and foliage freshly cut from our farm in Hammond, LA (1 hour outside of NOLA).

DIY Buckets are available mid-March - June and October - December.  Harvested one or two days before your event, fully conditioned in buckets ready to work with.  Flowers are “farmer's choice,” meaning we do not accommodate strict color palettes, (but it never hurts to ask)  though we will try to work within some loose color parameters if possible, example: "brights" or "pastels".

Placing your Order. To inquire about our DIY Bucket program, simply place your inquiry below to let us know how many buckets you’d like and on which date you’d like to pick up your flowers + any other important information about your events. You can also send in any questions you may. You can expect an email within 1-2 week from your inquiry date (during peak season we are really busy and are slower to respond to emails!). We do often sell out during peak wedding season, so please order as early as possible to reserve your flowers. (Recommended at least 1 month before your event but minimum of 1 week prior). We will email you with prices and all the important details for confirming your order. Once your order is confirmed we will send a calendar invite and deposit to secure your flowers for your date.

FAQs

Are DIY Flowers Right for Me? There are lots of things to think about when choosing whether to go DIY for your wedding flowers. Consider things such as your budget, whether you’ll have enough time, helpers, and workspace to do your own flowers? With DIY flowers, we’ll provide you with buckets of beautiful, vibrant flowers, but everything else is up to you!

How many buckets is enough? Each bucket can make 4-6 market bouquets depending on how you arrange and use the flowers. Market bouquets could translate into 4-6 small to medium vases or 2-3 arrangements. If you are doing medium arrangements for the aisles or around the altar or doing arbor, you will need more buckets to make these more dramatic statement pieces. If you are just doing bridal bouquets, bridesmaids bouquets, and some small table pieces, you can probably get away with just a few buckets. We are happy to answer any questions about how many buckets you think you may need based on your needs, but we are NOT a florist/floral service and do not provide design services. We are happy to recommend florists who use our flowers to do design work for your wedding day if that's what you are looking for.

What Kind of Flowers will be in the Buckets?  The flowers in your buckets are all grown on our farm and the types and colors available will change with the seasons. Unexpected weather, pest, and disease problems make it hard to say exactly what will be in season when. We fully embrace this and love the surprises the seasons bring. In early March, you can expect a plethora of ranunculus, anemones, eucalyptus, poppies, and daffodils. Mid-Spring we are flooded with a diversity of blooms; from snapdragons to scabiosa and queen anne’s lace to dara. Spring provides so much abundance! In the summer we are constantly seeding specialty sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, celosia and more. We recommend you check out our Instagram to see what has bloomed in the past and are happy to send you pictures of blooms from previous seasons.

Can I choose what types of Flowers I want in my Buckets?  No. In order to make sure you get the best and brightest flowers from the field that week, the farmers work together to choose the flowers and foliage for your buckets.

When should I Pick Up my Flowers?  We make deliveries into New Orleans every Wednesday. Most flowers can be kept in a room with AC until the day of your event, although keeping flowers in a cooler is preferred. Summer flowers do not like the cold, and a room with AC is preferred. Remember that heat and direct light cause flowers to open quickly and wilt sooner as well as dirty the water faster impeding the stem’s uptake in water. When you put in your inquiry, we will work with you to figure out best post harvest handling practices so that you are set up for success. If you would like to pick up your buckets from our farm closer to the event, please reach out and we can arrange an appropriate time and day for pick-up. All deliveries to NOLA and Tangi area have a $15 delivery fee (inquire about west bank, Baton Rouge, and north shore).

How should I transport the Flowers? This will depend on what vehicles you have available and how many buckets you’ve ordered. Flowers can never, never go in the open bed of a pick-up truck. Any vehicle that you put them in should be air-conditioned and recommend bringing a tarp or towel to put over your seats as water does slosh around sometimes. You can usually fit 3 – 5 buckets in the back seat of a sedan, and many more in a SUV. Don’t forget to bring a tarp if you’re worried about splashing water! Trust me, you’ll want it!

What Supplies will I need to Arrange my Flowers? You’ll need a workspace (preferably cool and shaded) that has a water source and can get mucked up with stems and plant debris. You’ll need sharp, clean clippers, since each stem will get at least one cut. For centerpieces all you’ll need are your vases – make sure they’re very clean (bacteria clogs stems and causes premature wilting). If you’re doing bouquets, you’ll need floral tape to wrap the stems together, as well as lovely ribbon and floral pins to hold the ribbon. Once you’ve made the bouquet, it’s convenient to have a mason jar with water at the ready to put your bouquet in until you need it for pictures or the ceremony. For boutonnieres and corsages you’ll need some floral tape, ribbon and floral pins and a plastic container to store it in. All of these floral supplies can be found at any craft store.

A La Carte Bouquets/Arrangements: Upon request, we can add additionally prearranged bouquets to your DIY Bucket order. Please reach out for more details.
